Third Thursdays hits July's Rejoice Atlanta Edition

My galpal, Lamonica Smith over at Rejoice reviewed Third Thursdays launch.

Last month, Rejoice Christian News’ own long-time contributing writer, Davidae “Dee” Stewart successfully launched Third Thursdays, a house reading summer series designed to showcase the creativity of Kingdom artists and to provide another form of Altartainment (a term Davidae herself coined), for Atlanta’s diverse Christian audiences.

A reading by:

Author, Creston Mapes is a Buford resident and former creative director for Dr. Bruce Wilkinson (Prayer of Jabez.) Multnomah Publishers has published his debut novel/ the first of a three part series, DARK STAR: Confessions of a Rock Star Idol this month.

Poet, Theresa H. Johnson is a McDonough resident, motivational speaker, and an award winning print news reporter. She is the founder and president of the Voices of Christ Prophetic Poetry Team, and has published a poetry book, Thank God for Salvation.

Writer, Davidae 'Dee' Stewart is the host of Third Thursdays, and Suwanee resident. She is alsoan editor, book reviewer, speaker and writer. Her works have appeared in Gospel Today, SpiritLedWriter, Atlanta Christian Family, Precious Times, and Rejoice!

A performance by:

Former Miss Black Atlanta USA, Miss Eulene Adams is an Atlanta resident and graduate student at he University of Georgia working on her Masters of Social Work Degree. Her Miss Black Atlanta 2004 platform is "Homelessness: The Cycle Must End."

A psalm by:

Singer, Taniqua T. Jones is a Lawrenceville resident, who will attend Oxford College in the fall. She has sung at the Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry Celebration and the 2004 AIS iHOT Robotics Team! Regional Tournament at the Gwinnett Civic Center.

Vocalist, MeLana Latrice Jones is a Suwanee resident and music student at Georgia Perimeter College. You can see and hear her voice as she performs as a choir member in the upcoming movie "The Gospel" due for a November cinema release. This month she appeared at the Vibe Fest.

(Tentative)Gospel Recording artist, Delores Burgess is a Stone Mountain resident and CEO/President of Delores Burgess Ministries. She was the 2003 Atlanta Gospel Choice Award Winner for Best New Artist for her debut CD “Faith All Over It.” Her spring 2005 memoir Suspicion of Malignancy chronicles her journey through breast cancer.

As we mentioned last time, editor, book reviewer, speaker and writer Davidae "Dee" Stewart is launching a new live event for writers this summer, Third Thursdays, a "House Reading Summer Series." The events will be every third Thursday at 7 p.m. at Somethin's Brewin Coffee & Tee House in Suwanee, Georgia.

As described by Dee, house readings are "gathering places for slam poets, spoken word artists, creative non-fiction essayist, flash fiction writers, novelists, and playwrights to gather and share their work with their community, eat, drink and
network."

Third Thursdays

This summer I am hosting Third Thursdays, a House Reading Summer Series. Somethin's Brewin Coffee & Tea House of Suwanee has blessed us with their cozy and comfortable place for the readings.

House Readings are gathering places for slam poets, spoken word artists, creative non-fiction essayist, flash fiction writers, novelists, and playwrights to gather and share their work with their community, eat, drink and network. And to hear an occasional psalmist/musicisian/singer/holy hip hopper in the house.

Third Thursdays events will be on every third Thursday at 7:00 pm at Somethin's Brewin Coffee & Tee House in Suwanee, Georgia.

If you would like to particiapte, please contact me at vidae@writing.com. If you would like to join the Third Thursdays mailing list for events calendar and artist spotlight, please respond to this email. If you are not a christian artist, but know someone who would love the free publicity, please have them contact me and forward this message onto other artists that might be interested. If you are out of the Atlanta area, but plan to come through this year. We would love to have you come out and listen to God speaking through you. Let me know, so that I can include you on the calendar.
